Follow us as we cycle our way throughout the USA. While our ultimate objective is to see this beautiful country of ours, we hope that these trips will also be the perfect trip for father-son bonding, getting in shape, learning new things, experiencing America, and raising money for Folds of Honor. We are definitely psyched for these epic adventures, and thanks for coming along for the ride!

Day #6: Root Canal and Airplanes

My dad's tooth has been bothering him for about a week now, and given that his right lower jaw had blown up like a golf ball he decided it was finally time to get the root canal his dentist told him he would eventually need.   He scheduled an appointment for the only time available -  later in the afternoon,  so we decided to go to the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola -  just down the road.  We tagged onto a tour and learned a lot about some of the first planes and how the Navy had/ has been involved in aviation. We saw an IMAX film called 'The Magic of Flight' which gave us a quick overview of the history of aviation along with showing footage of the Blue Angels (the Navy's stunt performance team). We enjoyed our visit to the museum a lot (see some pictures below). After the museum I went back to the hotel while my dad went to the endodontist.   I watched a few Family Guy episodes and had lunch in the room. It turns out that the dentist my dad saw is a fellow Jew from Brooklyn, NY - aren't all dentists.  The dentist was so excited to see a tribal member from New York (evidently a rare occurrence in Pensacola)  that he called in the entire staff to introduce him.  For a while my dad was comparing his tooth situation to Tom Hanks tooth situation in the movie Cast Away.  Fortunately he made it to a dentist and did not have to solve the problem with a blade of an ice skate.

Tomorrow we hope to make it to Alabama (again)

Check out a video of us biking on a nice stretch of road yesterday on our way to Pensacola, FL (please excuse my dad's heavy breathing)

Thanks for coming along for the ride!

  1. Nice video footage: I think the "heavy breathing" is just the wind rushing by.

    Great work at the dentist!
