And then there were none...
Today we ran out of inner tubes which was pretty unsettling (more on that later)
After packing up this morning at the Check Point Lodge, Doris told us a little bit about the unique cows she has on her farm. She showed us a Texas Long Horn cow which are rare because most cows in America were originally imported from Europe. Just down the road from the farm, my dad realized he had a flat rear tire. We replaced the flat tire in record time (record for us) with our last inner tube. As we continued down the road, we realized the hills were becoming much steeper and longer (see pics below). As Doris promised, we passed a ranch belonging to Chuck Norris (see pics below). In Texas Chuck Norris seems to be just a little bit less popular than Jesus. The head winds came back, stronger than ever today which added to the difficulty of the hills. Luckily we had a short day planned and we got to Navasota around 11:00am. We got some food from a grocery store and went for a swim at the hotel (Comfort Inn). We are getting ready to go to the convenience store down the road to pick up a few things and then we are going to watch a movie. We are currently watching college wood chopping AND wood sawing (timber sports) on ESPN... only in America!
Thanks for coming along for the ride!
Check out our route at the link below:
Richards, TX- Navasota, TX
Follow us as we cycle our way throughout the USA. While our ultimate objective is to see this beautiful country of ours, we hope that these trips will also be the perfect trip for father-son bonding, getting in shape, learning new things, experiencing America, and raising money for Folds of Honor. We are definitely psyched for these epic adventures, and thanks for coming along for the ride!
